Welcome to My New Blog!
You’re probably thinking, “New? How can this blog be new when there’s already a gazillion posts on it?” Allow me to explain.
I have a blog on Blogger, which has been around for several months. I was happy with it until a few weeks ago, when Blogger started having problems pretty often. One day I was having major publishing problems, and I went to the status page to see what was going on and when it would be fixed. As usual, it didn’t say anything.
So I went to the Blogger Help Group. What I found there was the online equivalent of an angry mob. Lots of bloggers had been having similar problems, asking why, and getting no answers. It wasn’t just a short hiccup or anything either- the problems lasted the rest of the day and into the next. And to my knowledge, no one from Blogger ever gave anyone any information.
As you can imagine that did not sit well with me. I had played around with WordPress in the past and liked it, so I decided to set up a WP blog on my own hosting account and transfer my posts from Blogger over to it. I still have my Blogger blog up (two of them actually, but the other will be switching as soon as possible), and will for a few more months at least. But eventually I will be doing all of my blogging with WordPress.
Update (1/22/06): All previous posts have been removed, because I have decided to keep my Blogger blog as well as this one. I’m still a big WP fan, but the new Blogger has proven to be a big improvement over the old version.
