I had a little slowdown in work a couple of days ago, and at that very time a fellow I had started doing some work for but had to put on hold emailed me to see if I was still interested in the job. Good timing.

I wrote back and explained to him that I had had a bunch of work dumped on me, and that my computer was having serious problems. In case I haven’t mentioned it fully here, it’s getting to the point that it cannot handle multiple applications, or even Firefox tabs, very well. Its slowness and the freezing of programs has slowed me down quite a bit, not to mention frustrating me so severely that at times I can hardly see (or think) straight.

Anyway, back to the story. I loved this job, it was just taking more time than I’ve been having due to the aforementioned factors. He said the door was open for the time being, and I sat down and thought long and hard about it. When I don’t have a bunch of work with tight deadlines to do it’s not hard to get in some work on this small job, but I feared that I wouldn’t be able to produce new stuff on a regular basis.

I finally came to the conclusion that I have to stick with it. It’s steady work, and although the pay is not stellar, it’s quite reasonable. But the biggest factor was the fact that it is the most fun job I’ve got. I get to select videos and write little tidbits about them, and I have the freedom to have a blast with it. And I need something that allows me to cut loose. I have this and another blog where I can be myself, but they’re dedicated to primarily family-type things. And while Mom is by far the most important title I’ll ever have, I’ve got to indulge my fun-loving side sometimes. And this job forces me to do it regularly.
