Yesterday evening we heard a knock at the door. It was our neighbor. She wanted to know if we would take two parakeets off of her hands.

She said that someone had given them to her for her daughter, but they are currently staying with her mother and she would not allow her to keep them. So she thought we might want them for Pumpkin. Way to put us on the spot. But we graciously accepted.

I had been considering getting Pumpkin a small house dog, but I think this will be better. At least we won’t have to worry about all of the vaccinations and house training and all that. The birds’ wings are not clipped, so I’m going to see about having that done. I dread chasing them around enough without having to kill myself doing it.

So we now have two new pets. I just hope Pumpkin enjoys them.
